UV Curing
Introduction - Company Background
Founded in 2003, NPS has exclusive global patent rights to this unique class of polymer technology which was invented and developed as part of a UK Government defence research programme. It has extensive in-house research, development and testing laboratories as well as pilot plant (scale-up) facilities based at its Head Office in Gloucestershire.
NPS’ unique LoVOC® materials have an important role to play in the performance enhancement of industrial processes and consumer products. They offer benefits across a variety of markets including flame retardant fabrics, flooring and building materials, automotive components, oil industries and personal healthcare. They do not contain solvents or require carriers and they cure with 100% conversion to solids with no waste during application. They are efficiently cured, at low coating weights, by UV light with near zero VOC emissions. NPS’ dedicated team of scientists can modify existing off-the-shelf products or tailor completely new materials leading to higher productivity, less waste, reduced energy and transport costs.
Many materials with highly desirable performance properties are currently rendered unusable due to difficulties with coating, adhering or laminating. The LoVOC® series of polymers and monomers can be coated onto a range of substrates at micron thickness, without the need for harsh chemical, corona or other costly pre-treatments. By altering the surface characteristic of ‘difficult-to-adhere-to’ products NPS enables the subsequent adhesion to or coating of substrates. Examples include providing unsurpassed adhesion of highly crystalline fabrics to automotive rubber compounds, or enabling polyolefin and rubber floor coverings to be bonded to wood and concrete using standard water based adhesives.
NPS is currently working with a number of selected manufacturers at various degrees of scale-up and our investment in the latest equipment, facilities and talented technical and customer relation teams enables our clients to benefit from our unique high performance polymer technology that stands out from the crowd.
